The chocolate story was fake. As a retail veteran, I can assure you anytime a customer says, "I'm never coming back", you will see them every day for the rest of your time there.

Well, I used to work in a Well known Outdoor shop in South Africa and on 26 December people do a lot of refunds. But then a guy came in to the shop returning Mini Camping Fridge. I was asked to check if all the components was still in the box and all is good. As I opened the box I saw a Christmas Card in the box. I wanted to return it to the client but he already left. So I read it and saw it was present from his kids. Quite a expensive gift he returned. He was upset when he returned it, because he wanted the cash, but we gave him a Voucher instead.

Sorry but I'm siding with the Karen In the chocolate story. What kind of store doesn't have a return policy for food products that people don't like? I can understand no refunds without receipt, but to not even give a in store trade? That's just bad business. That being said never be rude to an employee over company policy. That's never ok.
I love listening to some of these reddit stories because my dad acts the same way. Even as an adult he treats me as if I am still a young kid and tries to take away what he doesn't own especially when its not in his house.
Leave the roommate on his own walk ahead of him it he can't keep up with them well not there fault they can meet him on there way back down
First story, I wouldn't have bothered with the fake computer and buying a case. Id have just taken it and told them I had. OP was 21 ffs, sneaking around when there's no need, I'd just have ignored the entitled idiots!
In the first story, when OP wants to move out, why is he disappointed over his parents not paying? And why does his grandparents pay? If you want to move out, do it on youre own dime, like an adult

1st Story - OP, please, please, PLEASE tell us that at at some point (when they have NO leverage over you whatsoever) that you will tell your Dad and his wife about the switcheroo you pulled. You can not let these toe rags go their graves thinking that they can puppet you like that and get away with it. (which in this case, they didn't!)
'He looks forward to these hikes the entire week' i'm not sure if OP means james or the depressed guy. If he was talking the depressed guy then Why complain about it when your there? also if he has no friends, he can travel the place a bit (safely) and find interests even possibly find other people that like the same thing he does or he find online friends.

actually, ED and EM are doing something illegal you cant hold someone else's withholds someone else's property if they ask for it back especially. When it has monetary value with a valid invoice or receipt that says that it's your property you can file a civil suit when they don't comply and ask the cops to escort you to help get your property with the approval of a judge.
I have to go with Mario out of the two for the sheer reason that I have a similar body type to Dr. Robotnik: long, thin arms and legs, but round body. (Sorry, never calling him Eggman. Robotnik just sounds cooler.)
Sonic all the way. I hate mario as a character. Plus mario is the poster child of copy and paste gameplay. All his 2D games are same with just a new one off gimmicky power up, and it's the same thing with his 3D games.

OP Hiker is not the AH. Uninvited guest is the AH. Spineless friend needs to simply tell UG that he's going out, be back whenever.
The first story is such a convoluted mess of unfeasibly and clashing factors and statements that it is total BS... The guy had his friend's invoice for the computer, lived alone because his parents didn't help him financially and he allowed them to trample over him and prohibit him from taking back something they didn't pay for? He could have simply told them, either you let me take the computer or I will ask my friend to sick the police on you for theft. The other totally surreal and BS part is to _"hide"_ his taking the computer back by going to the trouble of getting another case, old spare parts, rebuild both computers and then leave the _"decoy"_ behind? What's this? The 2nd grade or was he that afraid of his parents? If you follow the initial premise and tone of OP, he alleges to be an independent person and his parents didn't give a flip about him or his future so why try to deceive them? Fake, illogical, plothole ridden _"story"_ .

So...you went home, switched the old parts for the new parts, and left? Why didnt you just go there and grab your computer? Last I checked, they cant do anything about you taking your own computer. I swear. Half of these stories are just people who need to realize they ARE adults, not children who have follow mommy and daddy's every rule. Especially when you dont even technically live there anymore, and were literally just storing your stuff.
Sometimes when dealing with entitled parents the best way to handle them is to make them think they got their way.

The hiking story: OP is right - his friend needs to grow a pair or just cut them off completely. Obviously no one is getting the enjoyment out of the hike. OP is just better off going solo without having baggage around.

That Sonic fan is basically me, I love Sonic the Hedgehog games, he might have some blunders here and there (Sonic Boom/Sonic Free Riders) but most of his games are just way to entertaining to me to not love the series (P.S. I don’t think Mario is bad, I just think his games are more boring compared to Sonic’s)

The shop with the chocolate could have been a little accommodating. If the chocolates were from that shop then they lost at least 2 customers. And she doesn't sound like she was being that unreasonable. A store credit or something would've worked. In a small town your reputation can get tarnished pretty easily.

So my mom gave me a computer when i was in high school. Bc we're restricted with specific stuff on that laptop this way i could keep school stuff on my school laptop and personal stuff on this older laptop. Super old but it works for the stuff I use it for, anime, movies etc. Flash forward im in college, i still have my school laptop from high school and my personal one which at that moment, when i got a text from my grandma! She asked me when she could pick up my laptop. So i asked her what she was talking about. My mother decided to SELL THE LAPTOP SHE GAVE ME to my grandmother. So i told my grandmother the laptop was mine and she wasn't getting it unless the money came to me. She understood and apologized while my dad talked to my mom on the phone. Before this my mom got me a car for graduating! Aaand then sold it when she moved and i didnt go with her.
